GenDiB General Policies v. 1.0 ¶
Preamble
GenDiB has been developed as an open-access database of geo-referenced datasets on intraspecific genetic diversity in wild-living eukaryotic species in Switzerland. Accordingly, access to the published metadata and genotype data is open and free of charge.
GenDiB Data Policy
For information describing content items in the repository:
- All information is provided “as-is”, GenDiB disclaims all warranties, expressed or implied.
- The validity, authenticity, quality and respecting copyright of the data is the sole responsibility of the data provider or originator. Data sensitivity, e.g., disclosure of sampling locations of vulnerable species, is respected on prior notice by the data provider. Optionally, approximate or aggregated coordinates may be visualized.
- Information on species occurrences (geo-references) will be validated and integrated into the Swiss national biodiversity data collection (InfoSpecies) through a standard procedure and made available on the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF.org).
- The data may be re-used in any medium for any purposes by anyone without prior permission.
- We kindly ask that a link to the original data record is provided and is kept up-to-date.
GenDiB Privacy Policy
For information collected from users:
- GenDiB does not track, collect or retain personal information from users, except as otherwise provided herein.
- Only publicly available information on data providers will be integrated and made accessible to GenDiB visitors.
- Non-personal information such as IP addresses and cookies may be tracked and retained in order to monitor traffic and aggregated to provide various usage statistics as requested by the depositors. These usage statistics may also be made public.
- Server log files containing non-personal information such as IP addresses and requested URLs may be retained. These server logs may be shared with third parties for the purpose of security auditing.
- GenDiB will take all reasonable measures to protect the privacy of its users and to resist service interruptions, intentional attacks, or other events that may compromise the security of the GenDiB website.
